UZI NYC makes impossibly simple, drool-worthy dresses that almost anyone could live in all day, every day. I’d been lusting after their Cream Scratch V-Dress for weeks and finally decided to pull the trigger on this $169 spicy meatball as a birthday present to myself.

It’s a perfect summer piece that can be dressed up or dressed down - but does come with one pretty significant disclaimer: it is wildly see-through. When the dress first arrived, I tried to style it with some obnoxiously bright neon underwear for a bold look - but if I’m being honest - I’ve never left the house in this thing without a half-slip on underneath. The need for a slip definitely defeats the purpose of a one-and-done garment, but I love the print so much that it ends up balancing out in the end.

Pro Tip: If you’re ordering from UZI NYC’s website, you might notice a HEFTY $14 shipping fee. I highly recommend perusing the online stores of UZI NYC retailers before adding to your cart, since some offer the same UZI items with free shipping to boot (thanks, Morreaseal!).

The Bottom Line: UZI NYC uses 100% cotton materials and garments are handmade in their New York City warehouse. While not technically a size-inclusive brand, this particular dress comes in one size that is designed to fit a variety of shapes and sizes. At 5’4” and typically between 170-185 lbs, I’m definitely not the same build as the models featured in the online shop, but this dress fits me just fine. I’d love to see more robust details on UZI NYC’s website regarding their labor, materials, and production - especially given their price point. They seem to have a reputation among retailers as a small-batch, sustainable brand but there’s not much hard evidence to be found. I may not come back for more, but I fucking love this dress.
